January 19-31, Year 1

January 19
This morning, Emporio and Louie started preparing for the Trainer Tower. It's a tower North of the main outpost on Seven Island that hosts a timed gauntlet inside. The objective is to battle five trainers on each floor within half an hour. While the boys prepared, I took my strongest Pokemon out and ended up fishing. Pulled up a Tentacruel and fought her with Ono. I was going to let her go but ended up catching her because Ono would have swallowed her if I didn't. Named her Mari.

I returned to the outpost and travelled with the boys to the Trainer Tower. I decided not to participate in the gauntlet but they allowed SP and me to watch.

Emporio stormed through the first two floors with little issue. However, as we were moving up to the third floor, I noticed SP was missing. I let the others go ahead and went searching. I found SP staring down a white bird with a sword and shield made of... leeks. The Sirfetch'd saw me and brandished its blade. I explained I wasn't a trainer but it was apparent it wanted to fight. So we did. He went through my entire team: Kakoyin, Tom, Kris, Chariot, Ono and SP. But during the fight SP evolved. At least... I think it was evolution. He glowed the same as any other Pokemon but all that happened was that a heart appear on his chest.

He did change shape though. That was after I stepped in. I know Jolyne said not to fight Pokemon ourselves but he tried to attack SP when all my Pokemon were down. I had to. The Sirfetch'd was surprised I started to fight but then nodded and started traded blows with me. We went for what seemed like hours but must have been only minutes. I took quite a beating but just when I was going to go down, SP stepped in as its larger, darker form. SP the Palafin and Sirfetch'd then fought.

...

In the end, we still lost but the Sirfetch'd was tired and panting by the end of it. I conceded and then the Sirfetch'd nodded at me approvingly. The Sirfetch'd disappeared and then reappeared with an egg. He gave it to me and then just left.

Weird bird.

I caught up with Emporio on the 4th floor. I think I may have distracted him, being injured coming up the stairs, because he lost a few battles in. He seemed happy he made it that far though and we had my injuries treated.

SP returned to his normal form and is now cuddling the egg. I've promised Emporio I wouldn't fist fight anymore Pokemon. I'm unsure if I'll be able to keep that promise.

January 20
We decided to continue exploring. I told the boys that they could attempt the Trainer Tower again but Emporio said he wants to help me finish my 'tour' of the Sevii Islands. We headed to the canyon entrance and found a Machoke. I trained with SP to practice switching so we could activate his 'Hero Form'. We ended up not catching the Machoke but I have a better idea how Flip Turn and SP's "Zero To Hero" ability works.

The canyon entrance is a steep and rugged path. We didn't encounter a lot but it took us an entire day to get into the main part of the canyon. We should be in the main part of the Sevault Canyon tomorrow.

January 21
Tom evolved today. I had him out as we were walking through the main part of Sevault Canyon since I'm trying to rotate between my Pokemon. However, when we passed a Sentret, Tom's ears perked up and he attacked them. I'm not sure what inspired him to fight but we did some impromptu training. Then he evolved into a Persian.

I think he has some vendetta against mouse-like Pokemon. He and Jerry are always fighting and he's been acting odd since I caught Natsumi. He seems happier now - more self assured. He's back to being relaxed and is now in my lap accepting scritches. Cute.

January 22
The Sevault Canyon is a narrow valley, with a mix of grassy patches and rugged, arid land. There are many strong trainers around, which Emporio and Louie mainly took care of. The trail is difficult and most of our day was making sure we didn't fall to our deaths.

Today, I caught a Jangmo-o. He is the honourable sort and his scales remind me of a samurai's armor. I've named him Hojo. I tried to catch a Skarmory too but Ono fights very recklessly and their Brutal Swing sent it flying over the cavern wall. I'll try train them more to behave.

The Pokemon here are strong but manageable. Probably because everything seems easier after the Sirfetch'd.

January 24
One of my eggs hatched today. It was another of Armin's eggs. Inside was an Azurill with a hidden ability. I've called her Bubbles. She seems very small but she has a lot of spirit. She insisted on walking (bouncing?) by herself even though we struggled to climb down and follow the path.

Travel has been mostly uneventful. Just been talking to the boys. They're good kids.

I wish I had been around to do things with Jolyne. Maybe Jolyne would like to come down this way if she hasn't already. It could be our own bizarre adventure.

January 25
There were a swarm of little knights today (Charcadet). We took the time to train on them and I ended up catching one. She's the strong, serious type. She started fighting with Chariot immediately after getting caught like Avdol and Polneraff used to. I've named her Crimson in his honor.

January 27
We've finally arrived at the Prehistoric Cavern. It's a deep cavern that descends so far down I think it goes into the ocean. The chamber is enormous and it took us the entire day to explore. Apparently the Pokemon here are ancient Pokemon that I do not need to visit a rundown warehouse for.

In the First Prehistoric Chamber, I tried to catch an Archeops but Ono's Dragon Breath is as ruthless as its bite. I used Chariot to fight a Tirtouga. As naughty as Chariot is, he can actually control himself and not stab the Pokemon too hard. Caught the Tirtouga and named him Yoh.

It's rather nice down here. Much warmer than outside. Despite the ground being rock, camping here was surprisingly comfortable.

January 29
Today we went into the Second Prehistoric Chamber. Ordinarily, I wouldn't be allowed in there but the Legendary Seekers (those who look after this cave and the Pokemon in it) let me through because I was with Emporio and Louie, who both have more than five badges and many level 100 Pokemon.

The Pokemon here were much stronger than my Pokemon and most wouldn't be caught. However, as we were resting, an Aurorus came by and sat down near us. I offered him some of my food and let him look at my hat (He was very astonished. I think he mistook my hat for my head for some reason). After a while, I offered to catch it and he surprisingly agreed. So now I have Kosugi.

We're heading South to the last few islands in the 'Seven Island' area. It feels like this leg of the adventure is approaching the end.

January 30
Today is a good day. The last of Armin's eggs hatched into a little female Totodile. I've named her Crush because of her large jaws. We are about to enter Tanoby Chamber, our next destination. They say it has many intriguing puzzles. It'll take us a while to explore but I'm looking forward to a challenge.

January 31
Tanoby Chamber has no puzzles. Lying bastards. All this place has is Unown in the shape of English letters.

I found an Unown in the shape of the letter J. Caught them too. So guess this wasn't a complete waste of time - J for JoJo, I suppose.
